Tomi Adeyemi, born 1 August 1993, a Nigerian-American writer and creative writing coach based in San Diego, California. Tomi is known for her book Children of Blood and Bone, the first in the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy published by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers. After graduating Harvard University with an honors degree in English literature, Tomi Adeyemi received a fellowship that allowed her to study West African mythology and culture in Salvador, Brazil. Kechi Okwuchi was born on 29 October 1989. Okwuchi was one of only two survivors of the Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 crash that killed 107 people in December 2005. Since the crash, she’s undergone dozens of reconstructive surgeries to help her heal. As a plane crash survivor who bears physical evidence of her trauma, Kechi has, perhaps predictably, had to suffer life under the scrutiny of the public since 2005. But she is relentlessly positive. Gemma Griffiths was born in Cape Town, South Africa, but grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe. The indie/folk singer and composer has performed a variety of music and arts festivals around the world, including the Harare International Festival of Arts (HIFA) twice and ‘Miombo Magic’ in Zimbabwe. She headlined for Zimfest London 2015, as well as headlining for the first Performer’s Platform in Bulawayo.
