Frederick Douglass was born around 14 February 1818 into slavery in Talbot County, Maryland. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick Douglass, which he revised in 1892. He taught other slaves on the plantation to read the New Testament at a weekly church service. Frederick Douglass married Anna Murray and they had five children.
